Chef Suzanne Vizethann and her partner Conor Hubbard at “The Hungry Peach” were voted as one of our top five “Fan Favorite Chef’s” that participated in the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival (AFWF). In the time since presenting at the AFWF, a few things have changed…
The business at The Hungry Peach has skyrocketed and Chef Suzanne’s career has be thrust into the National spotlight. Atlanta’s Chef Suzanne Vizethann will be featured on the Food Network’s ultimate cooking challenge “Chopped” tonight at 10:00 p.m. During the three-course meal challenge, Vizethann showcases her southern twist to food.
I was fortunate enough to have this exclusive interview with Chef Suzanne, get the inside “Dish” on her appearance on the show and hear what her future plans are for The Hungry Peach.
Enjoy!
1). Chef Suzanne, congratulations on being featured on “Chopped” tonight! How did you get involved in competing on “Chopped” for the Food Network?
Thank you! Someone from the show actually called me. They normally cast chefs from the New York area but have recently started reaching out to Southern chefs. They found my website and invited me to tryout for the competition. I submitted a tape that was selected and a couple months after that they flew me up to New York for filming.
2). The Chef’s that are featured on the show must be prepared for anything that is thrown at them. How did you train for the show?
I watched every episode I could, listening to the judges comments and taking notes on my observations. My business partner, Conor, would put together practice baskets and time me. I read a lot of books about flavor combinations and why certain flavors worked well together.
3). So, what can we expect to see from you on the show?
Cooking makes me very focused and disciplined; its something I take very seriously. In everyday life I am very outgoing and laid back however on the show you will see my serious side.
4). The last time that we spoke, you and your partner Conor were operating out of the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center in Peachtree Hills serving breakfast and lunch meals & hosting BYOB Dinners. If you win the 10,000 dollar grand prize, will you have plans to expand?
We are unfortunately no longer offering the BYOB dinners. We are a gourmet boxed lunch and carryout catering company and also provide prepared foods to Lucy’s Market, an organic produce stand in Buckead. Fortunately our business has begun to grow and we are focusing primarily on how to continue that growth. No plans on expansion yet but we have a feeling it could be in our future!
