Essence Music Festival Day 2 Recap!!!

So, the party continued on Day 2 starting out at the convention center with a performance by Dru Hill. It was good to see the group back together on stage and they have not lost their touch! The crowd went wild as they performed “We’re not making love” & “Beauty”. A few of you may not have known, but Dru Hill has an album out in stores now tittled “InDRUpendence Day”. You can visit their official site at http://druhillonline.com/ for more information.

Author & TV personality Diann Valentine, made an appreance at the WE tv lounge on Saturday to talk about her new show that will debut Sunday July 24, 2011 called “I do over”. The show gives couples a chance to re-do their wedding ceremonies after a disastrous first walk down the aisle. She also hosted a conversation with Isaac Keys from season one of “The Ultimate Merger’ about relationships on Sunday. I had the opoortunity to meet Diann while attending a conference here in Atlanta. Diann has a wealth of knowledge and has already accomplished great things and was an expert in her industry before this show. Shortly after, the Braxton’s stopped by the WE tv lounge to greet fans.

The Basketball Wives, NeNe & Cynthia Bailey from the Real Housewives of Atlanta spoke on a panel later that afternoon “Breaking Down Images of Reality Television”. As usual, drama was there!

The lineup for Saturday night’s concerts included El Debarge, Chaka Khan, Jill Scott & Kanye West.

This was El Debarge’s first performance after leaving rehab. El looked great and gave an amazing performance as he sang some of the hits from Switch, The Debarge family & his new album.

Chaka Khan did her thing as usual and blessed us with a testimony about how she has been clean and sober for several years. She also spoke at he convention center earlier that day about her foundation and mentoring program in the New Orleans area.

Jill Scott looked gorgeous and showed off her new figure as she took the stage to perform some of the hits off her new album, “Light of the Sun” that just debuted at number one in the nation.

Kanye West… What can I say. I have always been a fan and bought his CD’s, but I had never seen him perform live. I like to think of my self as an R&B, Neo Soul Chick, but Kanye had me on my feet the whole time! He made his entrance through the audience amongst his fans and interacted with the crowd as he made his way to the stage. Hands down, the best performance of the night.

Later on that night Chevy Bowties Rock after dark hosted the Chevy Super Lounge with Kelly Price (Event produced by M320 Consulting & Starfire Group).
